Diamonds!

I was recently invited to photograph some beautiful diamonds. For the rings themselves, they thought it'd be tricky because they couldn't take the tags off. So, I just went to a florist and requested a rose bud and photographed them like I would a bride and groom's ring set. I think the images are beautiful!

Ava is One!

So I know I have missed posting several photo sessions because I got too busy to keep up with blogging. Then there were a few sessions that I couldn't share because they were of a more private nature, etc. Soooo... I'm just gonna start fresh and give you the most recent one for now. Miss Ava.
Ava is now a one year old. During her portrait session was the first time she took off walking only holding onto her mothers finger with one hand. It was also during this session that she attempted to stand up to walk all on her own without being prompted to. Rather exciting to get to see these "firsts" in someone's life!

Vacation

Well, we finally went on vacation. We took our little man to Gatlinburg to experience Dollywood and the aquarium. We didn't really do much else that was noteworthy. I think I ended up taking nearly 600 pictures in a week, and several videos.
Andrew is 23 months old now and aside from this being his first experience with an amusement park, he had a few other firsts on this vacation: first ice cream cone, first sip of sprite, first cheeseburger, first sip of Mountain Dew (ugh!), and first time seeing a real train, and first time ever to fall asleep in the stroller.

Baby Jillian is One!

Just over a year ago I photographed the labor and birth of this beautiful baby girl named Jillian. Then I had the privilege of taking newborn portraits of her, and again at the four and eight months marks. Now she is one! I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. She is a sweet little girl and so beautiful, although she wouldn't quite do what we were trying to get her to do and was distracted by her cousin, we still got a handful of cute pictures. Will's Two!

This little boy has been a delight to be around from day one. Even when he decided to throw a small "no" tantrum for his mom, he was still cute! I just wanted to keep him! Anyway, we got to do some fun ones. I don't think I'd used my 'manly man' backdrop with a toddler yet and it worked perfectly with the football theme. Enjoy these highlights:

Brooke - 2 years

Brooke and her big sister Sadie are always fun to have a portrait session with. You never really know what you're gonna get to do! Today, though, she was willing to sit and stand in front of my barnwood, but that was pretty much it. I was able to capture a few more fun expressions and she decided she was done. Newborn Twins

These little girls were born about four weeks prematurely, at 4 1/2 pounds each. Healthy and strong, and absolutely precious! I think they were about six or seven days new when I had the privilege of meeting them. One of them was quite uncooperative, but they both slept well so we were able to do a few different images before mom and dad needed to go home. Here are some highlights:

And for those of you who don't like the suspended baby images.. baby safety is a priority. They were never in danger. In fact, daddy was holding them just two inches above a beanbag and for mere seconds. The backdrop is photoshopped in.

Roxy and Jackson

Roxy is just two days older than my son, so it was fun to let them play together after the photosession. And I've taken big brother Jackson's pictures from when he was a small baby too! He's a handsome six year old now!

Biederman Families

I think this session was organized as a celebration of 50 years of marriage. These families came from all over the country to celebrate together. There were also two newly engaged couples and one newlywed couple! The heat was high but everyone stayed in good spirits to endure it. We also endured mosquitos eating us alive. Family Session

I thoroughly enjoyed being around these families. The Williams' are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, so their children and grandchildren are visiting from California. They invited me to come snap a few family photos while everyone is together. I found myself so comfortable around them, I easily could have forgotten I had a job to do. And what a beautiful family they have!
They have a new barn they wanted incorporated into pictures, but with the sun shining in the direction it was, they would have had to look straight into the sun to use that side of the barn. Another year maybe after the expected baby has arrived. They should have horses by then too, which would be fun to use in portraits.
Anyway, here are some highlights from todays session before we all melted in the heat:

This little girl is so beautiful, but the little stinker wouldn't stop moving! It seemed like a small challenge to get every single pose of her because she wouldn't stay still. But we managed to get a few different ones at least, and coaxed big brother to be in one as well. Enjoy!

Newborn Blake

This little guy is only 9 days new (I think) and loves to sleep. There was just one image I wanted to get, the one of him in my new trenchbowl with my new baby blankets. He was kind enough to sleep for that.. the rest of the session we'd get him into position and then before I could capture the first image - he'd totally shift and start fussing. So we didn't get as much done as I'd hoped, but I like what we did capture.

Liam was just over 6 weeks new. We weren't sure if he would fall asleep for us, but his mom was willing to be patient and wait it out. A little extra nursing time and he fell fast asleep and let us have some fun! I love new babies!

This little munchkin was only 13 days new when I had the pleasure of meeting him. He doesn't like being naked, or changed, or moved around. Jillian is now 8 months. Her mom wanted to do an oriental theme for a few pictures so I pulled out my paper umbrella for some, and used her paper lanterns for some others. I love them! Headshots

Today I had the pleasure of providing some business headshots for two clients. Hopefully, they wont mind me using them to show you some subtle before and after images of my editing. I think you can click on it to enlarge it and really see the detail.
So my real point to you is this: if you are putting off getting portraits made because you lack the confidence to look and feel beautiful - don't stress it. I can soften or remove lines and wrinkles, under eye circles, neck lines... I can brighten eyes, add eye shadow and even eye lashes! I can change your lipstick color, I can think your arms, shoulders, tummy... you get the idea. The following images did not need significant retouching, but a little bit can go a long way.

This beautiful baby girl was super good and happy until we put fancy dresses on her. So the "formal" portraits of her, she is scrunching up her face. The rest came out just fine. Marni's Maternity Session

Dance Competition

I visited a world dance competition last weekend to catch a few shots of my sister dancing. She took Gold in all of the dances she danced in on Friday. I was so proud of her. When I started shooting, I didn't realize that they had hired an "exclusive" photographer for the event. The bright side to that is that I didn't take a thousand pictures like I totally would have. Instead I got just under 200 within just minutes. Anyway, she was beautiful and did such a great job. Maybe she can post a comment to tell you the dance studio if you're interested in having professional lessons.. they were fabulous to watch!

The Hartman Families

Since all of the kids were together for the holidays, they invited me to come take a few family pictures to memorialize it. We didn't get to do as much as I'd hoped since the little kids had a very very short span of time before having meltdowns or going wild. But we got some... here are a few highlights:

I also wanted to show one of the edits I made from start to finish. First you'll see the original in unedited form. Then I finish the walls and add a nicer floor, and then I swap one of the heads for a better expression (per request of the family.) Another reason you hire a professional photographer for your photos.
